It's week 5 on 52Q and the question is....

How do I feel today?

My answer....

I've once again used backgrounds from the Walk in wonderland Cd and added a photo of the baby.

Spotty organza ribbon and a tiny sparkled brad finish it off.

New Baby

We heard yesterday that we have become Grandparents again.

Our son's partner had a little boy, born around 11am by 'C' section. He weighed in at 7lb 15oz but as yet does not have a name. This is the card I have made, using the photo sent to us, to Congratulate them on the birth. I used white cardstock with a silver mat. Onto this I layered a background and wording taken from the Walk in Wonderland Cd. The photo, raised on foam pads, has a heart design frame around it and is printed onto matt photo paper. A strip of spotty organza ribbon and a brad with a blue stone complete the card.

We've got snow!

At last we have the snow that has been forcast for the past few days.

It began yesterday evening and came down steadily until the early hours of this morning.

This was taken from my craft room window when I got up this morning. I love the way the snow is beginning to slide off the roof.

This one is taken from inside the conservatory. It's very strange for it to be so dark in there.

These are taken from the warmth of the kitchen window. I love the way the snow has slid down and formed mini drifts over the guttering.

52Q

I had decided not to put any of my cards for this on here as I thought they would be too personal but Sallie read the ones I have done so far and thinks I ought to share my thoughts.

So here goes...... Week 1

Week 2 Week 3 Week 4I've only put them together with book rings at the moment but when they are finished I will bind them properly.

All the backgrounds and images (apart from my eyes) are taken from the Walk in Wonderland Cd. I've embellished with brads, ribbon, prima flowers, ultra fine glitter and buttons.

1 card 2 challenges

I've managed to complete 2 challenges with this card.

The first on Cute Card Thursday was quite simple - make a Valentine's card. On the Lilli of the Valley challenge we were given a sketch to work to.

I've embossed the front of the card with D'vine swirls from Cuttlebug and covered the join with a piece of card with my sentiment and a ribbon attached.

The flowers are Primas with seed beads in the centres and the images are from an unmounted set of stamps bought very cheaply sometime last year but not used before.

The ribbon is spotted organza from Ribbon Oasis and the sentiment is a stamp from Hampton Arts.

Flowers

A quick and easy card again. This time I used a topper and Spring colours both from Flower soft. This was layered onto peach card and then white cardstock to make an A5 sized card. Prima flowers and brads were scattered around the bottom corner.

I've not got anything in mind for this one yet so may save it for a Mother's day card. I seem to have a thing for flowers at the moment as well as ribbons.

52Q Challenge

Over on the Bubbly Funk forum a group of us have taken up the challenge from Emily Falonbridge to answer a question a week about yourself. Hence the 52Q title of the challenge. The idea is to answer the set question on a seperate card each week, many people use playing cards for this but mine are going to be a bit bigger as i'm using the computer to print out my backgrounds and answers.

These are my covers for the book I will make when they are all finally completed in a years time. I covered thick card and punched holes so that the whole thing can be bound using my Bind it All when the time comes.

The papers are from Hot of the Press Citrus pack, the spotty ribbon is from Ribbon Oasis. The lace, letter tiles and cream plaque are from Kaz in the secret advent thingy. I used fabric flowers from my stash and the brad is a tiny glittered one from Papermania. The letter and numbers are stamped and embossed in purple on pale purple card and painted with shimmery watercolour paints.

It's strange how purple and lime green have become my favourite colours, when Sallie suggested them for her bedroom about 9 years ago I thought it a very odd combination. I suppose after living with it for so many years it grew on me.

More Goodies

We had to go to the Post Office sorting place yesterday to collect a package of crafting goodies which were just too big to go through the letterbox.

This is what I got. They are all from Crafty Devils who had a sale on last week and I couldn't resist.

So far i've used just one of the lovely little glittered brads and used the Flower soft to decorate one of the panels.

Baby Boy?

We are due to become Granparents again by the end of this month. Our eldest son and his partner are expecting a baby boy but not wanting to tempt fate I have knit in cream yarn. The pale blue can wait until after the birth if they want to me to do any more knitting.

Goodies

Look what the Postman brought me today.
Over on the BubblyScrumptious blog there was Candy offered before Christmas. I had forgotten all about it until the lovely Caroline sent me a message to take a look again. My name was drawn as the winner of all this lovely stash.

If I go missing for a while i'll be playing with stamps and ink, can't wait to have a proper look at those Thinkable Inkables as i've not come across them before and those lovely big clear stamps will be used lots.

Flower soft

This is my first attempt at using the Flower soft my Mum bought me back in August. I'm quite pleased with it but think I need to invest in a few more colours. I layered the Flower soft topper onto silver card before putting it onto a landscape white card. Peel-off corners and wording finished it off.

Twins

I have twin neices who celebrate their 18th birthdays soon. They are totally different to each other and at this age don't need things to be the same but I still wanted to recognise the fact that they are twins so used images from the same Cd for each.

The images are taken from Walk in Wonderland Cd by My Craft Studio.

The first one has the addition of a couple of flowers and glitter glue on the dragonfly wings. The other has a scattering of small flowers and glitter glue on the flower centres. I have printed inserts in a paler shade of each to make them a bit more special.

Same colours, different Club.

After the previous posting I was asked by a friend to make a similar card with a Liverpool theme. Mick was also hinted at by another workmate.

These cards proved a little more difficult as since the Cd was made Liverpool have had a different manager. I had to find an image of the current one and manipulate it using various programmes to fit onto the banknote.





The one for my friend has been left quite plain for her to personalise while the other has had peel-offs added.


The worrying thing is despite my happy ignorance of football I have quite enjoyed making these cards.

Quick card

Mick came in this morning from work and asked if I could make a card for his workmate whose birthday is today!
Anything golfing or football (Man Utd.) would be ok.

This is a variation of the card I did for our son last February using a Cd i've had for ages.

The hardest part was getting the notes to print as there is something built in to the programme which prevents them being printed anything near true size. Once i'd managed that it was easy just to fan them out and attach to the card. A few peel-offs mounted onto white card and gold paper completed it.

First cards of the Year

I've not felt like crafting at all yet this year but made myself do a couple of cards using freebie papers yesterday.
They are from the Making Cards magazine in lovely shades of purple and yellow.
It doesn't show on this picture but the toppers are both made up of several layers mounted up with foam pads. The first one is twisted while the second is straight. I think it's called Pyramage. It's a bit of a cheat really as all I had to do was cut out the toppers and add them to cardstock and backing layers of my choice.

I really must get back into making cards but just don't seem to have any ideas despite having quite a few to make for January birthdays.
I've not even been on the 2 forums which I used to visit several times a day. Sorry folks for the lack of input from me so far this year.

I'll not be doing any more crafting this year so I thought I would use my blog as many others have done to send my Christmas greeting.

Thank you for all the cards we have received, as usual the hand crafted ones take pride of place second only to our family cards.

This picture was taken last year at the end of November in the airport as we left the Dominican Republic after a much needed holiday in the sun.
The tree was decorated with lots of lights, red baubles, drums, lots of gold bows and 'straw' hats. It really did seem strange to see in such hot weather. To all my forum, blogger and facebook friends I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. I hope 2009 sees you Happy and Healthy.

A bit of rough!

Take your minds out of the gutter right now.
I meant a bit of rough icing on my Christmas cake.
I don't go in for smooth edges and fancy piping on my cake just the good old snow effect with a couple of embellies on top.
The poor angel looks as though she's stuck in a snowdrift.
It looked as though it had snowed in our kitchen by the time I had finished, the icing sugar just seems to fly everywhere.
Maybe it will get cut at Christmas this year, it's usually well into the new year before we touch it.

I received this lovely unmounted rubber stamp from Annie this morning. It was blog candy from a few weeks ago which I was fortunate enough to win. The stamp is Oakley in the bathtub, a Whiff of Joy stamp.

I got my versafine out straight away to try it on a scrap of paper. It is a lovely stamp and one i've not come across before, it gives a beautiful crisp image even on cheap copier paper. This photo really does not do it justice at all.
Thank You so much Annie i'm sure i'll find lots of uses for it.

This list of addictions is partly why I have not blogged this before now.

1. Rubber stamps although I don't use them as often as I should.

2. Nice papers, I don't like to use them as much as I should as I can't bear to part with them sometimes.

3. Embellishments- beads, buttons, ribbons etc. etc.

4. The internet, be it forums, blogs or facebook.

5. Liquorice! Once I start with the stuff I can't leave it alone.

I've not included my hubby or family as it goes without saying that I am addicted to them in more ways than they will ever know.

I hope i've not hung onto this award for so long that I don't have anyone new to give it too but here goes.
