52Q

Week 13 asked..... What was the worst (or best) hairstyle experience to date?

Now i'm either very brave or very foolish to be putting up the answer to this one, please no laughter.

Curly perms were the BIG thing of the late 1970's and I had mine done a couple of times. A quick blast with a water spray bottle in the morning to tighten the curls and you were set for the day.

I can't believe how young I look in this photo. As it's obviously Summer time it must have been August and I know it was 1978 because it was only a few months later that we found out I was expecting our first child.

I know i've skipped a week and missed out Q & A 12 but that one needs more thought. I will get round to it.

Card display.

For a while now i've been looking for a small easel on which to display my cards for photography. Tried all the local shops and even a large craft show with no luck.

A couple of days ago I decided I must find a way to display the Cd clock I made a few weeks ago as the clock mechanism doesn't have a way to hang it up. I thought of a plate stand which I no longer use and it was perfect.
Then an idea struck me, which it does from time to time, and I tried it to stand a card on and what do you know it worked!

I won't bother looking for an easel now as I have a few of these shoved away in the cupboard.

52Q

Week 11 asked ....... What keeps me awake at night?

A ridiculously easy one for me to answer especially as I spent last night sleeping on the sofa bed in my craft room. The background for the question is taken from the Walk in Wonderland Cd and the image from Google, the photo was taken a couple of years ago in the Dominican Republic at the outdoor bar. That's the reason for the plastic cup! He doesn't usually drink from one like that.

52Q

I'm a bit behind with these so had a blitz on them this afternoon.
Week 10 asked ........ What 5 films inspire me creatively?
A difficult one really, which I suppose is why i'd not done it before now. Films don't really inspire me but the music does. I've listed 3 of my favourite films which I can follow by the music alone. All images are from sources on Google. The ticket stamp is from Maya Road.

Cute Card Thursday

It's only Friday and i've managed a card for this challenge already!
This is a card I needed to make for my sister's birthday next month so fitted in well with the theme on Cute Card Thursday of 'Family Affair' to make a card for a family member.

I've used images and backing paper from a Sharon Duncan Cd entitled Farmyard Friends and simply decoupaged the pig's head onto foam pads. The greeting plaque is also raised on foam pads. The greeting is stamped and embossed in purple and the 'sister' is a peel-off.
My sister , for some reason, is very into pigs so this will suit her well.

Couple of cards at last.

This cute little lady has been stamped versafine Sepia ink and coloured using Stampin' Up marker pens and layered onto their card which matches beautifully. The butterfly punch is from X Cuts. Both stamps are from a set of clear stamps by Personal Impressions. The base card is white hammered c/s with a layer of pearlescent paper. This card also uses a stamp from Personal Impressions and is again inked and coloured using Versafine and Stampin' Up products. The '5' is from an unmounted set i've had for ages. The layering papers are from Dovecraft. The ribbon is from Anita's.

Diamond and Pearl

My Brother and his wife have been married 30 years at the end of this month and Mick's Aunt and Uncle celebrate their 60th Anniversary this weekend.

Both are A5 cards with stamped images and words from the With Love From Me to You Unmounted Rubber Stamp Theme Plate from Elusive Images .

This one for the diamond anniversary is stamped using Twilight Brilliance ink. It has loops of shiny seed beeds attached to the cut out hearts. A gem has been added to the plaque with the sentiment. All the card used for this is in cream with a linen texture.

This for the pearl anniversary has been stamped with Aurora Brilliance ink onto peach card and has pearl coloured seed beeds attached. The hearts and sentiment have been layered onto pearlescent paper. It has all been layered onto the same cream c/s.

Cute Card Thursday

I made this last week but had to wait until now to show it as it was sent to the lovely Karen whose Birthday is today.

On Cute Card Thursday last week we were asked.........

Now - onto this week's challenge"FOOD & DRINK"Create a card with an item of food or drink on it somewhere - as simple as that!

This cute image was sent to me by Lynn. I coloured it with polychromos and sansodor. The cup and saucer were covered in Anita's glaze to give them a nice shine. It was then layered it up onto patterned and plain card from my stash. Organza ribbons from Ribbon Oasis were added at the side to match the colours.

Thank You

A couple of weeks back a friend asked if I would like a couple of stamps which she had duplicated. I accepted (of course) but she did not want anything in return for her kindness.

I could not let it go at that so I made this little notebook for her using a Sarah Kay stamp, coloured with polychromos and sansodor and put together with the BIA. The braid is from Hobbycraft and the organza ribbons from Ribbon Oasis.

The card is a ready embossed one from DCWV with a bit of layering and ribbon and a topper from a past issue of Making Cards magazine.

52Q

I've just managed to catch up on 52Q challenge before the next question is set on Monday.
Question 7 was - What would I do if I knew I could not fail?

Question 8 was - What was the last thing that made me laugh out loud?

Both of these were very easy for me to answer.

As usual the background and text for Q7 was done using Walk in Wonderland Cd. I added a piece of printed ribbon on the front and an image from Clipart on the back.

The wording for Q8 was from the same Cd but the images are See-D stamps. 3 tiny brads in various shades of green add the finishing touch.

Cute Card Thursday

On Cute Card Thursday challenge we were told.........
An easy one for you this week, we would like to see an animal somewhere on your card!

I had this cute hedgehog image sent to me last week and thought he would be just right. I coloured him with polychromos and sansodor.
I cut an oval shape around the image and layered it up onto 2 more ovals cut from backing paper in brown shades. These have been stuck onto a backer embossed with my Cuttlebug. The greeting has been stamped and embossed in red onto a smaller oval and layered with foam pads across a piece of dotty red ribbon.

It's Mick's birthday on Friday so this is going to be his card.

Bubbly Funk crafty calendar

Some of the girls over on Bubbly Funk put together an online crafty calendar with a new project each month.
January's project was for a clock made from an old Cd. I adapted this slightly from the theme of 'Time flies' to fit in with the items in my stash.

This is what I started with and with the help of the online tutorial transformed it into something quite different.

I covered the Cd with Antiquity Tan Parchment paper by K & Co and then added colours from the Aurora set of Brilliance inks using finger daubers. The dragonfly stamp was a magazine freebie, so long ago I don't remember which one, and was stamped using the Peacock set of Brilliance inks. The flowers are Primas with the addition of small sparkly brads.

The original clock was bought very cheaply a couple of years ago from Ikea. I simply took it out of it's casing and re-assembled it onto the Cd.

Why not nip over to Bubbly Funk and check out the rest of the calendar, there's sure to be something to catch your imagination.

Blog candy

Bev and Jacqui both have 2 gorgeous packs of Blog candy to give away. Nip on over and take a look. Jacqui's is open until 23rd february and Bev's until 24th so still time to leave them a comment.

Cute Card Thursday.

On Cute Card Thursday challenge we were told.....

We would love to see your creations with a music or dance theme this week. Think instruments, song titles, dancing, musical notes etc.

Well this is what I came up with. The image is from Paper Nation and has been inked with Versafine Grey and painted with shimmery watercolours and water colour crayons.

The image has been layered onto paper from HOTP citrus pad with corners decorated with a X Cut punch. This has been layered onto lilac cardstock which has a piece of organza ribbon attached. The whole topper has been put onto a pre-embossed card from DCWV

Valentine's day

I hope you all had a good day today.

We stopped 'doing' Valentine's cards a few years ago but when I got up I found this waiting for me on the table.

A beautiful red rose in a glass vase with a sprouting bamboo. Mick had bought it on his way home from work.
Sadly I now have to spend the evening alone as he is already back at work after being in bed most of the day.

52Q

The question for week 6 on is.....

If I could do it all again would I change anything?

I've kept the pages very simple this week as I felt that the journalling has more to say than the images.

I did this last night before I had the chance to look at anyone else's answers so as not to be swayed by them and their ideas.

As usual the backgrounds are taken from the Walk in Wonderland Cd. The ribbon is from Hobbycraft.

Valentine cards

As usual I have to make a valentine's card for Mick's workmate to give to his wife. I've done 2 for him to choose from.
This first one uses free papers from Making Cards magazine and follows an example given in there. The only difference is that I have used ivory coloured ribbon from my stash and added one of the tags. This second one is on pink cardstock and has hearts embossed with D'vine swirls from Cuttlebug. They are layered onto pale pink organza ribbon, silver mirror card and palest pink paper. 3 pink gems and a peel-off greeting finish it off.I wonder which one he will choose. The other will be saved for me to use later in the year to give as an Anniversary card.

Challenge

This week on Lili of the Valley challenge site we were told.....
We would like to see your creations for MEN.

This card uses a stamp from Lili of the Valley, Oliver-text.
I've coloured it with watercolour pencils and waterbrush. The backing papers and tag are from HOTP citrus block and the ribbon is from Hobbycraft. The sentiment is a peel-off.

Tagged

I've been tagged by Gez.
It's the 4th picture in the 4th file on my computer which has to be shown.

Well this is the 4th picture in my folder on the computer so I hope it counts.
It shows some of the lovely ribbon I had in the Secret Advent swap we did on the Bubbly Funk forum last year.

I know this tag has been well passed around on that forum so i'll look elsewhere and tag Lynn to show what she has on her computer.
