More shakers

After making the shaker card for the Crafter's Companion challenge last week I decided to make a few more.
This first one is again an 8inch square card. I've used pearlescent pink card for the background and pearlescent blue card for the matting and circle on top of the acetate on the shaker element. The stars backing paper is from the Cute companions Cd.
The Christmas tree stencil, from Dreamweaver, has been embossed and then inked with Brilliance ink. The silver stars inside are from my stash and the snowflakes are from Nesties and have been cut in the same blue and pink card with the addition of a glittered silver snowflake, all held together with a pale pink brad.
The sentiment is from Lakeland.
The stars and sentiment look pink but it must just be the reflection from the pearlescent card.
These next two are A5 in size and use the same stencil embossed and coloured with Brilliance inks in purple and pink. I've used glittered snowflakes from Craftime and peel-off sentiments. On one I have used silver paper and the other pink pearlescent paper for the backer. The circles are pink pearlescent card or purple matt card. Silver trees and stars under the acetate are from my stash.
Dotty organza ribbon from Ribbon Rasis and lace complete the cards.
I bought the stencil with the idea of using it with glitter on double sided sticky sheets but haven't got round to that - maybe next year!

Crafter's Companion #10

This week on Crafter's Companion challenge blog we have another sketch as well as some items to be used.
These are: the colours Red/White/Gold, Ribbon, Gems and Embossing.

I made mine into a square card and used an image of Popcorn Bear along with a paper strip from the Christmas Cd. The main colour of my card is red with mats of red, gold and white. The embossing on the white mat is done with Swiss dots on the Cuttlebug. The ribbon is white spotty organza and the gems are in the corners of the gold mat. A lousy photo i'm afraid but it has been raining most of the day and the light is just awful.

Crafter's Companion #6

This time on Crafter's Companion challenge the sketch is from Anne.

I have used the ATC I made for the challenge on my previous post as a topper. I simply backed it with pink paper to make it stand out from the rest of the card.
The floral backing paper and decoupaged image are both from the Popcorn Bear Floral Cd. The pearlescent pink backing paper is from a paper pack also by Crafty Companions.
I added 3 self adhesive gems, a peel-off greeting and an organza bow.
I'm very pleased as I have managed to do a card each week for this challenge blog so far, hope I can continue.

Christening card

This is a card I made to celebrate the Christening of our 2 year old great niece at the weekend. The artwork is a free download from Rusty Alfrey designs and can be found here. Do take a look at this blog as there are some super designs.
I manipulated the image with a Photo program to get it the right colour and size (clever eh? It started out blue) It was then printed onto pearlescent paper and layered onto pink card.
The white card blank is A5 size and has been covered with a mat of pale pink card and white pearlescent paper the same as the topper. A double layer of different widths of pink organza ribbon have been attached across the corner of the larger matting and a pink organza bow on the corner of the topper. A simple peel-off sentiment completes the card.

2 of those!

I've spent the morning measuring and cutting to make these 2 notebooks. The 'hearts' one is a Thank You gift and the other is part of a Birthday gift for 5 year old.
I added a charm and ribbons to the adult one and lots of bright coloured pages for the childs. They were very quick and easy to make as the front covers are postcards from Ikea cut down to a 10x15 cm size with a backer and pages to fit, all bound with my BIA.

I've got to find a padded bag now to fit the thank you gift into then off to the Post Office.

Cute Card Thursday

It's only friday and i've already got this done which is something of a first for me.

This is the challenge on Cute Card Thursday this week....

With Christmas getting closer and us crafters wanting to get a headstart on a busy time of year we thought we would help you to get the ball rolling and make a Christmas Card.

I stamped the Sarah Kay image in grey Versafine ink and coloured it using polychromos and sansodor. Glitter glue was added to parts give a sparkle, although this doesn't show up too well on the photo. The edges of the backer and the image have been cut using a scalloped blade and those on the image outlined with the same colour as the dress. A piece of dotty organza ribbon completes the card. Not traditional Christmassy colours but pretty nontheless.
The green paper is from Dovecraft and the ribbon from Ribbon Oasis.

Boy or Girl?

My neighbour across the road is in the very late stages of pregnancy so while I was playing with my Nesties I set about making a card but not knowing the sex of the baby made one blue and one pink. The images are from Penny Black and have been coloured using Whispers brush pens - another of my favourite things at the moment. The background has been cut into an oval and mounted up onto an oval nestie shape with a star shaped button threaded with spotty organza ribbon for an embellishment.
The large letter'B' is cut from glitter card using a chipboard letter as a template while the smaller letters are cut with a Cuttlebug die.
Since making the cards I have discovered that the baby was in fact due yesterday and is a little boy.
Anyone want a card to celebrate the arrival of a little girl? I'll happily send it to you if so.

Spring Flowers.

2 cards here using the same Sarah Kay stamp. They have been coloured with a combination of Stampin' Up markers and watercolour pencils. The backing card mounts for both is from DCWV. The stamped greeting is from Personal Impressions. This first one has the greeting embossed in pale blue which shows better IRL. It has 2 layers of flowers and some spotty white organza ribbon held together with a brad.
This has the greeting embossed in purple and is decorated with flowers and brads. It also features an oval cut with my very first set of Nestabilities.

Cute Card Thursday

I made this last week but had to wait until now to show it as it was sent to the lovely Karen whose Birthday is today.

On Cute Card Thursday last week we were asked.........

Now - onto this week's challenge"FOOD & DRINK"Create a card with an item of food or drink on it somewhere - as simple as that!

This cute image was sent to me by Lynn. I coloured it with polychromos and sansodor. The cup and saucer were covered in Anita's glaze to give them a nice shine. It was then layered it up onto patterned and plain card from my stash. Organza ribbons from Ribbon Oasis were added at the side to match the colours.

Thank You

A couple of weeks back a friend asked if I would like a couple of stamps which she had duplicated. I accepted (of course) but she did not want anything in return for her kindness.

I could not let it go at that so I made this little notebook for her using a Sarah Kay stamp, coloured with polychromos and sansodor and put together with the BIA. The braid is from Hobbycraft and the organza ribbons from Ribbon Oasis.

The card is a ready embossed one from DCWV with a bit of layering and ribbon and a topper from a past issue of Making Cards magazine.

Cute Card Thursday.

On Cute Card Thursday challenge we were told.....

We would love to see your creations with a music or dance theme this week. Think instruments, song titles, dancing, musical notes etc.

Well this is what I came up with. The image is from Paper Nation and has been inked with Versafine Grey and painted with shimmery watercolours and water colour crayons.

The image has been layered onto paper from HOTP citrus pad with corners decorated with a X Cut punch. This has been layered onto lilac cardstock which has a piece of organza ribbon attached. The whole topper has been put onto a pre-embossed card from DCWV

Valentine cards

As usual I have to make a valentine's card for Mick's workmate to give to his wife. I've done 2 for him to choose from.
This first one uses free papers from Making Cards magazine and follows an example given in there. The only difference is that I have used ivory coloured ribbon from my stash and added one of the tags. This second one is on pink cardstock and has hearts embossed with D'vine swirls from Cuttlebug. They are layered onto pale pink organza ribbon, silver mirror card and palest pink paper. 3 pink gems and a peel-off greeting finish it off.I wonder which one he will choose. The other will be saved for me to use later in the year to give as an Anniversary card.

52Q

It's week 5 on 52Q and the question is....

How do I feel today?
My answer....
I've once again used backgrounds from the Walk in wonderland Cd and added a photo of the baby.
Spotty organza ribbon and a tiny sparkled brad finish it off.

New Baby

We heard yesterday that we have become Grandparents again.

Our son's partner had a little boy, born around 11am by 'C' section. He weighed in at 7lb 15oz but as yet does not have a name. This is the card I have made, using the photo sent to us, to Congratulate them on the birth. I used white cardstock with a silver mat. Onto this I layered a background and wording taken from the Walk in Wonderland Cd. The photo, raised on foam pads, has a heart design frame around it and is printed onto matt photo paper. A strip of spotty organza ribbon and a brad with a blue stone complete the card.

1 card 2 challenges

I've managed to complete 2 challenges with this card.
The first on Cute Card Thursday was quite simple - make a Valentine's card. On the Lilli of the Valley challenge we were given a sketch to work to.

I've embossed the front of the card with D'vine swirls from Cuttlebug and covered the join with a piece of card with my sentiment and a ribbon attached.

The flowers are Primas with seed beads in the centres and the images are from an unmounted set of stamps bought very cheaply sometime last year but not used before.

The ribbon is spotted organza from Ribbon Oasis and the sentiment is a stamp from Hampton Arts.

Christmas toppers

I started making these toppers a couple of nights ago then had to give up as the bulb went on my lightbox. Not to be outdone I got my Cuttlebug out yesterday and embossed a few more but because the bits on the corners are only part of the design had to leave them out of the backer.
I did the stitching in different metallic threads and backed them with co-ordinating card then layered onto white backers and put organza bows on them, some have tiny jingle bells.
Don't you just love the spotty lime green ribbon, it is from Ribbon Oasis and is my absolute favourite at the moment.
I have to decide how to use these toppers now, the ones with bells will have to be for hand delivered cards as I don't think they will go through the post too well.

Birthday bear

I made this card last week and Faith's Chocolate Bear took a fancy to it straight away.
The bear on the card is taken from my new Cd from Jayne Netley Mayhew. It has been simply layered onto red holographic board with metallic flowers down the side and a red organza bow on the top corner. The red outline is already on the image I just cut slightly outside it to give a white border.
The Cd contains lots of animal and floral images and so far I have made just 3 cards using it but i'm sure there will be many more to come.

Think Pink

The Think Pink sale will soon be here so i've made the last of my contributions. I sent a parcel off yesterday and have a few more things to pack up and send later in the week.

During the Cyber Crop over on Bubbly Funk we had various classes and I have managed to get things done from a couple of them to send.

The Dotee dolls were Suzie's class, I made 3 of these but Sallie pinched the spotty one I showed earlier so I have sent these 2.

Kaz's class was to alter a clipboard. This is the 2nd I did, the first I forgot to take a pic of before I sent it.

The ribbons are chipboard ones which have been decorated and had magnets put on the back. They were in the Think Pink kits from Bubbly Funk. they are now ready to be sent.

These pink organza bags were also in the kits and I have put rose scented tea lights in them.

A couple of the decorated ribbons have hanging chains on them while the other has a magnet on the back.

The small one is done in shrink plastic and has a few beads attached and a clasp to make a handbag charm.

The decorated notebooks were part of the weekly challenges. They have all been covered and various embellishments and ribbons attached to 'pretty' them up a bit.
The little bags contain matching gift tags threaded with organza ribbon and are from the Cute Companions Cd volume 1 from Crafters Companion.

Finally a few more cards which went in yesterday's parcel.

The flower card is made from freebies in Making Cards magazine.
The others are all from Cd's.
I used Oriental Dreams by Joanna Sheen, Golden years by Sharon Duncan and Cute Companions by Crafters Companion.

80th Birthday

Mick's Mum has asked me to make a card for her sister's 80th birthday next month which meant I also needed to make one from us as well.

This is the one I made for us to send, I used glitter board, brads, peel-offs and base card from my stash but the whole of the topper is made from freebies from Making Cards magazine with a little bit of glitter glue added.

I bought some Joanna Sheen stamps a couple of months ago when I was first asked about this card as I knew the look I wanted for it It is from the Happiness Oval set of Victorian Doylie range and has been stamped and embossed in pink on cream pearlescent paper. The 2 background papers are from Joanna's Oriental Dreams Cd. I found a bunch of fabric flowers in a local shop and used 3 from it to make a spray and added an organza ribbon bow which was all attached with silicone glue. The sentiment was printed on the computer. As the flowers stand out from the card so much I had to make a box on which I will stamp the name.
